Ugh! So THAT's what that is!

My daughter has had a small bump on the inside of her forearm for several months now.  Looked like a raised mole, hard and small.  She's only 7 so a puffy mole at her age seemed random.  At her pediatrician appt. last week, I mentioned the mole and right away she said "That's mollescum!"  I might have shuddered, because I knew EXACTLY what that was...

Three years ago, my sister-in-law told me about this nasty skin conition, warts really, that her kids had and she had a devil of a time getting rid of them.  She said they're very contagious and she wouldn't let my kids in her tub for a bath.  At the time, I was curious so I Googled "mollescum". HOLY MOLY don't do that!

So when the pediatrician said the word, I knew what this might mean.  A highly contagious, spreading wart that is very difficult to treat.  The doctor said her immune system would kick it eventually, maybe even soon, and she would advise against expensive treatments that might not work anyway.  So I thought about it, and considering she only had one and it was about to go away (probably) on its own, I would take her advice.

WRONG.

Not two weeks later, I noticed a smaller but identical raised bump on her tummy, where you could picture her forearm laying while she slept.  Crap.  Time to make the dermatologist appointment.
